What is it like to live in Broughton?
Broughton is the obvious answer for London families with young children looking to escape the capital. Multiple well-regarded primary schools, safe tree-lined streets, modern semi-detached houses with decent gardens - and still cheaper than comparable areas near London. The catch is peak-hour traffic on Broughton Road during school runs, and properties are pricier than older MK estates. Most homes come with driveways or garages. The sense of community is strong - playgrounds are busy and there is a genuine family feel.
Broughton has a modern, family-oriented atmosphere. The streets are wide, the houses are new, and the community is young. School runs and playgrounds are the social hubs. It feels planned and orderly - a deliberate family community rather than a place that grew organically. The original village of Broughton retains a quieter, older character on the edge of the modern estates.
History of Broughton
Broughton was a small village and medieval parish before Milton Keynes was designated. The original village, with its 14th-century church of St Mary, still exists. The modern residential estates of Broughton Gate and Broughton were developed from the early 2000s onward as part of the eastern expansion of Milton Keynes. The area has grown rapidly into one of MK's most popular family districts.

Broughton is one of MK's most family-friendly areas. Multiple primary schools, safe residential roads, and green spaces make it ideal for young children.
The Broughton Road junction with the A421 can get congested during school run and rush hours, but the grid road network provides good alternative routes.
