What is it like to live in Oxley Park?
Oxley Park is genuinely different - designed by architects rather than volume housebuilders. Pedestrian-first layout, communal greens, buildings that actually look interesting. RIBA award-winning. It will not appeal to everyone (the layout is unconventional, parking is tighter than elsewhere), but for families who care about design, sustainability and community, it is refreshing. Popular with creatives and professionals. Schools are good, commute is car-dependent, but you pay less than newer estates like Broughton while getting far more character.
Oxley Park has a distinctive, design-led, community-focused feel. The architecture is contemporary and varied rather than uniform. The layout prioritises pedestrians over cars, with communal greens and car-free zones. The community is creative and engaged - people who chose Oxley Park for its design ethos. It feels different from every other MK estate, which is exactly the point.
History of Oxley Park
Oxley Park was developed in the 2000s as an architect-designed, eco-focused residential area in west Milton Keynes. It was conceived as an alternative to standard volume housebuilder estates, with pedestrian-first layouts, communal green spaces and contemporary architecture. The development won multiple design awards including RIBA recognition. It was built adjacent to the established Tattenhoe area and shares access to Tattenhoe Valley Park.
