What is it like to live in Tattenhoe?
Tattenhoe Valley Park stretches for miles - woodland, meadows, cycle paths, genuine countryside feel - and Tattenhoe sits right next to it. You get affordable modern housing with large gardens and walking distance to nature. The trade-off is that you are car-dependent, and the commute to London requires a drive. But if you have school-age children and want green space, safety and value, Tattenhoe is hard to beat. Schools are good, crime is low, and your mortgage goes further here than in east MK estates.
Tattenhoe has a quiet, green, semi-rural feel. The streets are peaceful, the gardens are large, and the countryside is on the doorstep. The community is family-oriented and settled. It does not have the buzz of CMK or the polish of Oakgrove - it is a practical, nature-focused neighbourhood where families get space and value.
History of Tattenhoe
Tattenhoe was a small village and medieval parish before Milton Keynes was designated. The original village, with its 12th-century church of St Giles, still exists. The modern residential estates were developed from the 1990s onward as part of the western expansion of Milton Keynes. The area was planned with generous green spaces and direct access to Tattenhoe Valley Park, giving it a semi-rural character despite being within the city boundary.
